3rd Millennium Announces Addition of Juli Klemm, Ph.D. as Senior Project Scientist

CAMBRIDGE, MA - October 7, 2002 -- 3rd Millennium, a leading bioinformatics consulting firm, announced today that Juli D. Klemm, Ph.D., formerly the Director of Scientific Project Management at Incyte Genomics has joined the Company as Senior Project Scientist. In this newly-created position Dr. Klemm joins 3rd Millennium's senior management team and will evaluate, recommend and implement bioinformatics solutions for the firm's pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

"3rd Millennium's growth and success requires that we bring additional top senior scientific talent to our team. In the past year we've achieved a variety of milestones consistent with our goal of establishing ourselves as the most scientifically capable provider of customized informatics solutions for the drug discovery industry. We have made tremendous progress in the development of the Pathway Information Management System (PIMS) that we initiated upon receiving a $1.8 Million Advanced Technology Program Grant in 2000. The NeuMetrix Data Repository system we developed was opened to the public in June 2002 and leverages some of the technology we developed through the PIMS program. NeuMetrix is now one of the largest public databases of gene expression data and has been widely cited for its contribution to Huntington's disease research. Finally, we continue to add to our substantial portfolio of successful projects for an impressive and diverse group of clients. Through both our ongoing client work, and the PIMS project, we are pushing the boundaries of innovation as we grow," said Richard Dweck, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 3rd Millennium.

"As we translate our progress into new solutions for our clients' most pressing drug discovery challenges, we look forward to benefiting from Dr. Klemm's industry and bench experience-both from a scientific and software engineering standpoint. Notably, Dr. Klemm led an operational team of over 50 informatics and bench scientists mining the human genome for novel genes encoding secreted molecules. As part of this project, she coordinated with two large pharmaceutical partners, jointly determining methodologies and milestones associated with this project. Her ability to frame a project, define deliverables, execute and coordinate effectively with pharmaceutical companies will be invaluable to us as we help our clients address their most pressing informatics initiatives," Dweck added.

During her 4 years with Incyte, Dr. Klemm played a lead role in the design and implementation of several database and software projects. Dr. Klemm spearheaded the development of relational database schema and user interface software for proteomics data. Additionally, Dr. Klemm led the scientific team responsible for the design and quality control of Incyte's Expression, Pathways, Clinical Data and LifeTools projects. Dr. Klemm has published extensively in several scientific journals including Cell, Science and Genes & Development. Dr. Klemm received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Utah and her Ph.D. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she performed high-resolution structural studies of protein-DNA interactions
